The BBC2 Kung Fu Night was scheduled (at least unofficially) to coincide with Hong Kong's Handover to China, about a month later.

I've seen FOF2 on movies4men before and its your usual bullshit print. I'm wondering, are all their kung fu flicks like this? Any reasonable versions? Or are they all budget, pan and scan dub jobs?

The handful of times I've seen MA flicks on there, the quality has always been lousy, unfortunately.

Bravo did a few years ago - both English-dubbed and non-anamorphic 2:35:1 widescreen I believe.

Sadly this site isn't perfect. For example it doesn't list any of the dates for Project A

http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/322287?view=transmission

and Police Story does not have the 1989 and 1991 broadcast dates listed.

http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/250974?view=transmission

Yeah, I noticed that along with other films I typed in. why have a specialised site for such a thing and not have the relevant info on it? Bit rubbish.

Never watch Bravo or Virgin (Channel One) so it's no loss for me.

Apparently the "best" programmes will be incorporated into Sky One and Living TV.

I must correct myself. It's not exactly the old Fox version because the final fight scene in the coliseum reverted back to the mandarin soundtrack with Bruce's own war cries.

The Fox version had dubbed war cries for the final fight scene. But apart from that, it sounds the same.

So seems like SyFy got hold a different print compared to all the previous releases on various formats.

Way of the Dragon was anamorphic and looked fairly good, despite very pink skin tones.

Yep, fist of fury on friday. Will be watching that just out of interest.

I was watching Way of the Dragon mainly to see if I could get a good audio track out of it for my future custom dvd.

Mr Nice Guy was the uncut original version. zoomed in to 1-85-1 but good quality. Strange how they never subtitled the Chinese language parts!

Fists of Fury aka Chinese Connection tonight. Cant wait.

My family and I all watched The way of the dragon and they enjoyed it, don't think they watched a full bruce lee movie before (other than enter the dragon). Basically they appreciated Bruce even more which is nice touch..

I'm still in shock that Legend of Drunken Master is being shown on UK TV when it has never EVER been released on video and DVD at all over the past 16 years.

I asked Bey Logan about it and he said that Dimension Films do not own the rights to the UK distribution Warner does.

The same goes for Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt that's never been released in the UK on video and DVD yet it's been shown on BBC 2 and Film 4.

In regards to "Thunderbolt", I have the Taiwan edition dvd. It's coded all region NTSC. Would that not work in the UK?

I'm not sure what 'region' the UK is. If it's 2, there's also French (PAL), German (PAL), and Japanese (NTSC) editions coded for that. You guys are pretty swift. Ya'll have probably already investigated all of that though.

I think the point being made was that there are Jackie/HK films licensed for UK broadcast which haven't received a UK DVD release.

DVD releases of "Thunderbolt" aren't hard to come by - I have a Spanish disk, Region 2, PAL, 16:9 with Cantonese audio and English subs.

I know it's not really Kung Fu, but I just watched Commando on Channel 4!

Awesome film (in it's own way). Great quotes. Although did anyone notice a scene at the beginning where he's showing his daughter some kind of martial art? I swear she's doing it better than him! :xd:

(Better than Hard Target on the other channel! Can't really take JCVD's karate seriously since I actually learn a martial art! )
