Trailers are meant to lure people in, Rza is many things, but a bankable movie star, he is not! They can't just rely on his fanbase for this.

And yes, the trailer is just as discouraging as the first one.

The second trailer for this movie has just been released....and as much as I hoped the lesson was learnt from the first one and that this one will highlight some good one on one kung-fu....unfortunately it's not a whole lot different from the first, with perhaps the addition of even more CGI blood, and it doesn't even look that well done.

Is there a shot in the trailer that lasts more than a second? I just saw this trailer twice today at the theater. So annoying. Please show me what the Hell is going on!

On a final note, is it just me, or do both of the trailers that have been released for this contain hardly any footage of the actual 'Man With the Iron Fists'....RZA!? Considering he's the title character, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is a Russell Crowe & Lucy Liu starring vehicle from what's been put out there.

Co-written, directed by, and co-starring the RZA... who gets 5 seconds of screen time in the trailer. Whitey strkes again. I'm guessing he won't be a big sell in middle America? :squigglemouth:

Sad but true.

More like they put the cg in kung fu:angel: don't want to be closed-minded but fuck this shit, I want a Kung FU movie not a video game.

I hear you bro.

Personally I'm staying open-minded for this. The trailer editor is NOT the director. I've seen shit films with great trailers (Joe Dante started his career making some of the coolest trailers ever, for films that sucked ass), great films with shit trailers. So I won't judge it based on that. It certainly doesn't look like what I had in mind/hoped for when I first heard about the project, but that doesn't mean it won't be good. Fingers crossed.

Brass Body looks like the coolest thing in this film. For some bizarre reason this trailer got me a smidgen more excited than the last but the film is obviously not going to be what I'd hoped.

My big problem with the trailer is the dialogue. It's painfully clunky. Might be worth getting the HK version of the film if it comes with a Cantonese dub and English subs.

"Reading between the lines" of the trailer, the movie itself looks like a slow-moving SFX-fest, which I don't mind every once in a while.

The characters are splendidly old school in their names and mannerisms, but it doesn't really increase my anticipation, sadly.

I think they look kinda stupid, to be honest. I can see what they're going for, but it just looks silly to me. Byron Mann looks like he's in some mid 90's taiwanese cheapo flick with zero costume budget. And blue mohawks... really?!

Just posted this at FLK. RZA has said in a recent interview that his character will be employing Beardy's "Iron Cross" style from The Victim. He also mentions that Cung Le is an energetic standout in the fight scenes.

I think after seeing the trailer the only thing that would develop any real excitement about the movie is releasing an awesome fight scene. Even then the trailer captured the spirit of most of the action, which is less than impressive and has certainly dampened a lot of people's desires to see the film.

This movie looks painfully bad for so many reasons.

It has the look of something coming out a 15 year's old mind who've seen a couple kung fu movies and think he can make something cool.

Like any other director for hire or studio exec. he had to put at least one recognisable westerner in the movie that is not remotely close of being a martial artist. Russel Crowe in a kung fu movie?!

It definately lacks in known martial arts star faces.

From the look of the trailer, the movie seems plague with everything fans have been whining about in recent genre outputs, namely cgi, heavy wirework and quick cuts.

I'm sure that Rza is a huge fan of old school kung fu, but what the trailer shows is not a labor of love for a genre but rather the same crap any other director for hire would've come up with. It's a shame but I can't see how this could give the genre a new breath.

I take it Copper Lion (Yoyao Hsueh) dies in this with blood coming out of both sides of his neck. Just a guess. Daniel Wu? Pass.

This looks like a wu xia picture. Doesn't look like a KF movie and the action shown supports that.

Imo RZA has it down with the costume department and names (even though lions, hyena's and gemini starsign are not stuff you normally see in ancient China). I love me some 60-80s Taiwanese swordsplay though. Im really glad it didn't take an approach for a more realistic china. There are enough movies doing that approach (man of tai chi for example). Curious about the fighting, did look like to much wirework, but to be fair the fighting shots where to quick and to few, it was mostly a showcase of weaponary (that look awesome, and i love kung fu flicks also for the exotic outlandish fantasy weapons) and powers, rather then fighting. But that news of RZA doing beardy's iron cross style from The Victim is awesome and gives me more hope for the fighting scenes.

Sure it's no Kid with the Golden Arm (which the title and story seem to homage too) but it certainly has my attention.

I agree if it had been a labour of love he could've made the film for a fraction of the budget and even funded it himself. In my opinion he just wants to be an action star but he really had the chops to be a kung fu star you just know the action would be completely different. I know Hollywood is a business but you can make a piece of art, this is clearly pure commercialism and nothing more. The worst thing is this will probably kill all the good work done by The Raid as people look for their next martial arts movie fix.

Hmm. Hope that doesn't prove to be prophetic but it could well be true. Still, the trailer demonstrates this film is nowhere near in the vein of The Raid. Doesn't mean it won't get lumped with it though.

The Raid has amazing fight scenes, but the the look of the film kinda sucked, other then the dark skinned boss character; they all look boring in rag. The movie is fa to brown and grey as far as colours go. In comparisom to Die Hard, a movie which The Raid clearly aspires to be, had awesome german " fabio" style terrorist with that hair haha it gave them some flair. I really like the whole cinematography and art direction The man with the iron fist has, that something The Raid can learn from RZA's film crew.

SD, I hope I'm wrong too and the film proves to be a huge success financially not on its merits of the martial arts movie but on the blind loyalty of his music fans. Although that could cause problems on its own as Studios throw more money at him and its core fan base stayaway. Mind you I suppose there's no real worries at it's not exactly like martial arts movies is ever going to become mainstream without really losing the intensity, choreography and overall quality of action.

So you worked on RZA's movie huh:wink:

admittedly I've not seen either film but I'm damn sure RZA could take a lot more from The Raid than vice versa. He seemed to forget that RZA and the budget for making his film more lavish looking. But then how good is a martial arts film without great martial arts action? unless The Man with the Iron Fist has an amazing story, without top fights great cinematography and art direction are not going to mean a damn thing.

I really doubt I will be seeing this. The trailer just has not sparked any intrest at all in me to see it. If people on here start raving about it, I may change my mind(I value your opinions). As of now though, I think I will pass.

With emphasis on shit, by the looks of it.

Im personally not gonna bother with this movie. I have nothing against Rza or anyone involved with the film, I just don't think it looks very good, and it puzzles me that this is the movie that Rza wanted to make. But hey, that's on me. He doesn't have to meet my expectations. Im just gonna pass.

Just because your a huge fan of the genre, does not mean you can make a good film.

Gareth Evans proved you can with The Raid, but after seeing the 2nd trailer i am not at all excited by this, i hope i am wrong and it turns out great.

THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS will be far more special than THE RAID.

I am pretty sure it will be entertaining as hell.

I think it will be quite violent and trashy.

And the cast is amazing....Daniel Wu and Russell Crowe in a martial arts movie together....hello?

lets all just be happy that were getting kung fu shit in theaters lol

Word... I had to sit through Bangkok Revenge, which means I can pretty much sit through anything and I think I'm 100 percent sure that this movie won't be near as bad as fucking Bangcockfuck Revenge...
