Guest Markgway
I never thought The Simpsons was aimed at kids. Isn't it PG-13 over there? Has it been dumbed down at all?
Guest GwaiLoMoFo
It is deffinitely PG-13 and not directed towards younger viewers. Took my oldest son to watch it and we both loved it!! A little shocking (but hilarious) to see Bart's little yellow member on the big screen. And it appeared as though they actually killed off a character at the very end. Some of the classic characters get little to no screen time (ie Willy, Apu, Patty, Selma, Ralph..). Most everybody was there and had very brief bits. But obviously with such a huge cast of characters, they couldnt fit all of them into a 90 min film. It was alot better than I thought it would be. Anybody who grew up watching them like I did will not be disappointed.
Member KyFi Posted July 30, 2007 Member Share Posted July 30, 2007 I think I would have preferred Monty Burns to be the main villain just so he could have had a bit more screen time---and it could have used more Principal Skinner, Groundskeeper Willy, Selma and Patty. But really, as GwaiLo said, with so many great characters in the tv show, there's no way they could have given them all major roles. All in all, it was quite a successful movie adaptation---it played like a really good episode to me, with a bit more of an epic feel. Thumbs up. Guest Tosh
Went to see it last night, the parts with the pig were hilarious, not much more than a great extended episode, but what could you expect out of a cartoon, afterwards we went for some food and beer, the simpson quotes were coming out all over the place. Definitely a must see for any Simpsons fan, besides the brief nudity and some cursing it really isn't that bad, I don't believe the Simpsons was ever aimed for kids, I think it was always meant for adults(and kids) giving most of the comedic content. Guest Soda drink
Movie was good but would have been much much better with Mr. Burns running things.
Member Cognoscente Posted May 2, 2021 Member Share Posted May 2, 2021 My thought on the Simpsons movie is similar to the Jackie/Jet movie - ten years too late!
