Member reason108 Posted November 30, 2020 Member Share Posted November 30, 2020 Cool! Well, guess that puts the truth to the myth. Too bad the scrapbook is so expensive right now. Wouldn't mind having a copy otherwise; probably.
Member Killer Meteor Posted December 19, 2020 Member Share Posted December 19, 2020 I read the account of the shooting in Kinsey's "Hammer: The Elstree Years", and if anything, the behind-the-scenes battles were far more brutal than the film! There's an interview with Renee Glynn, the script supervisor, where she recalls having to juggle a non-English speaking crew, a racist Roy Ward Baker (her words) and all Peter Cushing wanted to do was paint his watercolours and talk to his dead wife in his room!

There is a great interview with David Chiang talking about how Peter Cushing was kind and helpful in taking Chiang to the next level as an actor. Baker was a hack. Left to their own devices Shaw and Cathay produced good Vampire style stories on their own, such as Devil's Skin and Black Magic 2. Hammer was falling apart before they set foot in Hong Kong with only a few flashes of brilliance such as Vampire Circus and the Vampire Lovers.
Member silver roc Posted January 4, 2021 Member Share Posted January 4, 2021 I've seen a similar interview, was it this one?

Baker has at least one masterpiece, A Night to Remember, in his filmography. But no kung fu fighting vampires in that one.
