Member Secret Executioner Posted September 3, 2012 Member Share Posted September 3, 2012 Ninja Terminator is quite possibly one of the greatest movies ever made. I wouldn't go THIS far, but it's (for me) one of the greatest martial arts/ninja films ever. (btw, I like your nickname and your signature picture )
Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted September 3, 2012 Member Share Posted September 3, 2012 Oh don't get me wrong, on a technical and artistic level it's a piece of crap. But goddammit if the entertainment level isn't through the roof! Richard Harrison's scenes alone makes it a stone cold classic. Throw in all that ridiculous ninja buffoonery AND Jaguar Wong, who's cooler than a polarbear's nutsack, and then raise it even further with Hwang Jang Lee in a blond wig, still looking mean as fuck, and we're talking a serious masterpiece of schlocky pastiche filmmaking here! This is one of the only movies that I can watch two times in a row with no pause. I genuinly love this film, which is funny, considering I don't like any of the other Godfrey Ho-IFD cut'n'paste flicks. Sorry GodfreyHoWorshipper and Thunderscore:neutral: Wish I could see that 1984 korean film they borrowed from in it's full length.... A Night On The Star Ferry or whatever it's called. Yeah, in NT, EVERYTHING is over the top: the fighting of the main cop (doubt he is an Interpol agent in the original film ), Wong Cheng Lee's look (although he is still quite threatening and a great fighter), the Garfield phone, the toy robot that delivers threat messages and VHS , the "training" of Richard Harrison which consists in chopping watermelons and throwing darts at crabs... And while the use of other movies' OST isn't very obvious, here it's just blatant: there's actually a snippet of the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange at a point (when Harrison finds the message written on his windshield, which is oddly the only part of his car covered with snow). Sorry GodfreyHoWorshipper and Thunderscore:neutral: No problem with you not liking IFD/Filmark releases. I gotta admit I enjoy these productions mainly for their entertainment value and the goofiness, not anything else. Wish I could see that 1984 korean film they borrowed from in it's full length.... A Night On The Star Ferry or whatever it's called. I too would love to see the original film, but I'm a bit curious too on other IFD/Filmark productions such as Secret Executioners or The Ninja Squad. Member Secret Executioner Posted September 3, 2012 Member Share Posted September 3, 2012 Back on topic, I have some questions: - I read that the boxset Tough Guys Of Kung Fu (listed page 3) contained (well some copies seemed to) Ninja Connection/Ninjas In The Killing Fields instead of Killing Machine. And which set(s) between Tough Guys Of Kung Fu, Art Of Fighting (also listed page 3) and Return Of The Warriors (listed page 4) would people recommend ? - which of the "colored" Black Belt Theater DVDs (Special Collectors Edition, Volumes 6-10 (blue), Emerald (green) or Ruby (red), listed page 8) would be the most recommended ? All 3 seem to have nice movies.
Member Gaijin84 Posted November 10, 2012 Author Member Share Posted November 10, 2012 Note - none of these movies are digitally remastered or in 1920x1080 format as advertised. The disc has a total of 42.5GB of information on it, so at best each film is a 1.7GB version. So imagine an ultra low-quality DVD movie simply blown up to fit on a 1920x1080 screen. Needless to say pixelation is a serious issue. Unless noted, all films are dubbed and fullscreen and then cropped on top and bottom to appear to be widescreen. Information on each film is below. # rating is for pixelation on a scale of 1-5, 1 being no pixelation, 5 being utterly unwatchable. The Dragon and the Tiger Kids (1979) [Hell'z Wind Staff] - Cantonese w/burned subs, 4.5 Incredible Shaolin Thunderkick (1984) - Widescreen, 3 Iron Fists (1979) - 4.5 Sun Dragon (1979) - 4.5 One Armed Swordsman Against Nine Killers (1976) - German print, 4 18 Fatal Strikes (1978) - 3.5 18 Swirling Riders (1977) - 2.5 The Eighteen Jade Arhats (1978) - 2.5 The 72 Desperate Rebels (1978) - 4.5 Carry on Wise Guy (1980) - Widescreen, 3 Of Cooks and Kung Fu (1979) - Widescreen, 2.5 Death Duel of Kung Fu (1979) - Widescreen, 3 Dragon's Claws (1979) - 3.5 Hitman in the Hand of Buddha (1981) - German print, 3 The Hot, the Cool and the Vicious (1976) - 4.5 Duel at Tiger Village (1978) [iron Monkey Strikes Back] - 5 The Master and the Kid (1978) - 4.5 Raging Masters Tiger Crane (1982) - 4 Shaolin Iron Finger (1977) [Renegade Master] - 3.5 Shaolin Kung Fu Master (1978) - 4.5 Shaolin Kung Fu Mystagogue (1976) - 3.5 Avenging Boxer (1979) [Method Man] - 5 Eagle's Claw (1977) - almost no volume, only one speaker, 4 Wu Tang Clan: Da Mystery of Kung Fu - the same video that appeared on a lot of their DVDs, basically all the members sitting on some stairs talking about their favorite films Enter the Iron Fist - hand-held camera behind-the-scenes of "The Man With the Iron Fists" including awkward pitch-black cab interview with Chi Kuan-Chun and fight-scene creation with Robert Tai. So you really only get 23 films, not 25.

Member Secret Executioner Posted November 11, 2012 Member Share Posted November 11, 2012 WOW, a bunch of VHS rips/DivX of films (which have been on many other box-sets, some titles seem familiar) altered (or should we say ruined) to be fit on a Blu-Ray... I think this box has to be one of the biggest rip-off ever...

Member Morgoth Bauglir Posted May 2, 2014 Member Share Posted May 2, 2014 "Protect Ya Neck" is a great set. Mystagogue and FF Guillotines are ok. Shaolin Death Squads was way better than I thought it would be. It's based on the same story as Rebellious Reign. I figured that The Blind Swordsman's Revenge was going to be some type of crappy Zatoichi knockoff movie, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. The guy who plays Zatoichi is damn good. Thanks for the overview. The set looked nice, but the "Wu Tang" label gave me doubts, seeing there have been "Wu Tang" releases that were quite terrible from what I read on here or in amazon reviews. Good to see it's actually not that bad - and it's another Videoasia release, for a change.
Member Secret Executioner Posted July 28, 2014 Member Share Posted July 28, 2014 Maybe slightly off topic, but I'm mentionning it for the Robo Vampire trilogy (titles in bold) - horror-oriented Filmark productions made the same way they made their Ninja stuff. Robo Vampire 90 Minutes NR Devil's Dynamite Approx. 90 Minutes - NR Magic of The Universe 85 Minutes NR Counter Destroyer 90 Minutes NR Satan's Slave Subtitles. 86 Minutes NR Corpse Master 95 Minutes - NR Vampire Resurrection 77 Minutes - NR Devil Shadow Approx. 90 Minutes - NR Calamity of Snakes Approx. 90 Minutes - NR Devil's Box 83 Minutes - NR The informations are taken from amazon.com, as I do not own that set. But seeing how amazing Devil's Dynamite is (amazing in how OTT it is), I could be into that one.
