Member massa_yoda Posted April 7, 2011 Member Share Posted April 7, 2011 After saying that, OH MY GOD, if you haven't seen Drunken Dragon aka Exciting Dragon, BUY THIS NOW! I have never even heard of this flick but after watching it, it's an all-time fav. Wow, I may need to track this down then. I am familiar with a few of the titles (I don't own any of them), so to hear such a great review of one of the 'unknowns' is encouraging. I've also always been curious about DM3, even if it is bad. Too bad about the transfers...it doesn't ruin the movie that much does it? Definitely sounds like it's worth 8 bucks.
Member Drunken Monk Posted April 8, 2011 Member Share Posted April 8, 2011 I agree with Silver_Fox, the box set is worth it for "Snake Deadly Act" and "Drunken Tai Chi" if you don't already have them but the unseen gem is "Drunken Dragon." I sat through it, mouth agape, and while my wife fell asleep, proclaiming it was weird and boring, I was wide eyed, in awe of its sheer insanity. If you like the crazier Yuen Clan films, definitely put this one on your list!
Member Kennedy Il Sung Posted April 10, 2011 Member Share Posted April 10, 2011 I wouldn't say to get the Drunken Masters 2 set just for Drunken Dragon since Rarescope put out a good release of that movie. But if you don't own Drunken Tai Chi, Snake Deadly Act, and Drunken Dragon then get it.
Member Kennedy Il Sung Posted April 11, 2011 Member Share Posted April 11, 2011 They aren't still around but their dvd's can still be found on amazon for pretty cheap on Amazon.com.They were a company under Bci/Eclipse who folded a couple of years ago. Rarescope did put out unremastered versions of movies but they always put out wide screen prints with the original language most of the time . Videoasia, Xenon and crash usually put out pretty bad looking versions of movies and I think all these companies are bootleg companies. I wouldn't be surprised if vidoeasia just ripped the Eng version of drunken dragon from Rarescope's disc and put it on this dvd set.
Member Rock_Bottom Posted April 20, 2011 Member Share Posted April 20, 2011 If I am not mistaken Rarescope was a label that was run by Toby Russell and BCI/Eclipse did the US/NTSC releases. You can get these (PAL releases or NTSC releases) via various AMAZON sites (.com, .co.uk) and/or EBAY. There are a couple of box sets that collect 10 movies...they are pricey, but $30/$40 10 movies is a great per movie price IMO. Here is a split RARESCOPE/KUNG FU THEATER 20 DVD set for $25 from AMAZON.COM: http://www.amazon.com/RARESCOPE-KUNGFU-THEATER-PRESENT-COLLECTION/dp/B002CXFRL0/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1303328465&sr=1-2. I have this, not a bad set for just over $1 per movie. Found this list of titles: Rarescope All 10 Titles Widescreen: Kings of Fists and Dollars, A Sword Named Revenge, The Dream Sword, The Chinese Godfather, Duel of Karate, Amazons and Supermen, Hero of the Time, Big Rascal, 18 Shaolin Riders and Fast Fists. Kung Fu Theater 10 Titles: Ninja Thunderbolt, Invincible Hero, Attack of the Venoms, Men on the Hour, Land of the Brave, Great General, Chinese Dragon, Everlasting Duel, (Chinese Hercules Widescreen) and Mantis Fists and Tiger Claws of Shaolin.
