Member bruceleewannabe Posted April 28, 2010 Member Share Posted April 28, 2010 Hello everyone, I stumbled upon this forum when I was searching about Bruceploitation. I bought this cheap 50 martial arts classics set a while back on ebay. It's from a company called Emson and the packaging is so cheap is ridiculous. Basically a flimsy cardbord box with dvd's in slipcases. Anyway I thought I'd list the movies and maybe people could discuss them. Ninja: The Protector Heroes of Shaolin Pt. 1 & 2 Sister Street Fighter Karate Kids USA The Master: Max & Out of Time Step Dragon Master Revolt of the Dragon Wutang Champ VS Champ American Chinatown Dragon Lee VS the Five Brothers Kung Fu Arts City Ninja The Four Shaolin Challengers The Big Fight A Chase Step by Step Deadly Duo Fighting Mad Return of the Kung Fu Dragon Infernal Street Dragon Blood Tiger Love Shaolin the Blood Mission The Real Bruce Lee

Member Omni Dragon Posted April 28, 2010 Member Share Posted April 28, 2010 Welcome to the forum hope my notes help most I can hardly remember really I should start make notes on paper about film rather than mental Ratings based on these films alone e.g. good mean good for these films Ninja: The Protector IFD Ninja style as with most it’s a little odd Heroes of Shaolin Pt. 1 & 2: good shape not actually 2 parts just one film that is split. The Master: Max & Out of Time Step American tv series Kung Fu Arts: made a year after Tiger Love but very similar story about animals ok City Ninja: should be called Shitty Ninja a lot of love scenes best parts are the training scenes & end fight. The Four Shaolin Challengers good students of Wong Fei Hung story shape The Big Fight basher I remember it was good cant remember what it was about thou A Chase Step by Step basher about circus performers with good KF escorting gold cross to a poverty stuck town Deadly Duo good shape Infernal Street good basher I think problems with drugs in the town Tiger Love made a year before Kung Fu Arts but very similar story about animals The Real Bruce Lee Bruce Lee’s early film in English with over voice then Dragon Lee film called Last Fist of Fury which is probably the worst of Dragons that I’ve seen Ninja Death 1 and 2 good shape with good training scene in 1, love scenes, good how the story fits over 3 films Snake Fist Dynamo clone of the Kung Fu tv series daft action The Impossible Kid film with Weng Weng who was the shortest adult actor in a leading role at 83 cm or 2 feet, 9 inches heard he learn MA off Dany Inosanto Shaolin Deadly Kicks I remember it as being a good shape after watching it I wrote nothing to do with Shaolin really but it's a about a gang of 8 who steal a treasure map by killing a family & staff, the map is divide with one pieces & Dorian must find & get all the pieces The Brave Lion remember it as being a good basher I think Japanese invitation The Snake, The Tiger, The Crane I remember it as being a Bad shape Ninja Champion IFD Ninja style as with most it’s a little odd Spirits of Bruce Lee ok could have done with more action The Street Fighter Good one of the best Japanese films in my opinion The Guy With Secret Kung Fu Good shape is how I remember it Kung Fu Kids Break Away cant remember much I think it was at least ok some thing about orphan kids I think Hands of Death Basher Japanese invitation good Shaolin Temple I’m guessing that’s with Shu Feng wrote this about after watching it “all the royal family are killed apart from the prince who was hit by a poison dart & the Shaolin monks have the cure” shape & good I think

Member BlackLamaFaction Posted April 28, 2010 Member Share Posted April 28, 2010 Deadly Duo I'm assuming is (2 Great Cavaliers) not the Shaw Brothers film with David Chaing and Ti lung. If so that is a great film with an amazing cast I would put that in my top 20 list easy. Also Heroes of Shaolin is another film with a great story and cast. I know there are at least two films in the set that have the same title as other famous movies but are not them. I think maybe Infernal Street but I don't know. It's been a while since I've checked them out.

Yes - it is 2 Great Cavaliers I think they've put this set out multiple times, changing a couple movies and the cover each time Here is the 2nd version - http://www.amazon.com/Martial-Arts-Movie-Pack-Collection/dp/B0007DBJUU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1272489304&sr=8-1 The first had a guy that looked like Brandon Lee holding a couple escrima sticks

Anyway it's a good mix of kung fu, blackploitation, and etc. if you've got some time to kill.

Member BlurayStation3 Posted April 28, 2010 Member Share Posted April 28, 2010 The old version (generic guy with sticks) has: Death Machines (Ron Marchini) Death of a Ninja (Sonny Chiba) Fist of Fear, Touch of Death (Bruce Lee) Sister Street Fighter (Sonny Chiba) Ten Fingers of Death (Jackie Chan) While the new version (Bruce Lee) has: Breakout From Oppression (Lona Chang) Day of the Panther (Edward John Stazak) The Guy From Harlem (Loye Hawkins) Jive Turkey (Paul Harris) TNT Jackson (Jeanne Bell) Note that the 5 ones on the new version are not kung fu movies. I forgot if TNT Jackson was, but if it is then it only barely passes as a KF movie.
Member kungfusamurai Posted April 29, 2010 Member Share Posted April 29, 2010 I have the old set. The movies look alright, but they aren't using a high sampling rate, so there's too much pixelation. Not really bad, but it's basically like watching EP mode. Too bad, because some of the films are rare (at least they were when I bought the old set). Member Jack J Posted April 29, 2010 Member Share Posted April 29, 2010 The Impossible Kid This isn't a kung fu film at all but the sequel to the awesome and trashy Filipino film FOR Y'UR HEIGHT ONLY (on DVD from Mondo Macabro)!! I actually bought this set just so I could get hold of this film as it's not realeased on (official) DVD otherwise!! Andrew Leavold has made a documentary film about Weng Weng called THE SEARCH FOR WENG WENG (it hasn't been released yet). I meant sets with kung fu films, but I will look into that set as well since I am a huge sci-fi buff. Thanks.
Member HyperDrive Posted May 1, 2010 Member Share Posted May 1, 2010 No Ninja Death 3? What a rip. I think the first ever version of the martial arts 50 pack was released by Tree something (Treeline?). City Ninja is a Godfrey Ho like splice up with credits from a completely different movie and a weird fight scene involving a game of pool. Tiger Boy is a bizarre movie where the hero is the son of a tiger. Kung Fu Arts is from the same vein but involves a monkey instead. Snake Fist Dynamo is a typical kid learns certain kung fu style flick with a treasure hunt subplot thrown in as well. The training sequence consists of the hero wrestling with snakes. He also bites a lizard's head off as well sometime in the course of the movie.

Snake Fist Dynamo might be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever watched more annoying characters than the ones played by James Yi. It`s terrible...it`s so dire and irrating it`s not even funny.I think there was one scene only which could be called fight in whole movie...
