I'm noticing something very peculiar about this forum. Whenever I talk about how good Classic Kung Fu Movies are, I get a lot of negative replies by certain posters being condescending and even putting down movies like Born Invincible, which are considered classics by the real fans. Something isn't right, yet I've experienced a similar problem in music forums; people who seemingly have no passion about the subject will come along to chat about off-topic issues or use the forum as a general trolling ground. I know Kung Fu Movies are a very specialised form of entertainment, and that this is the best place to discuss them, but how many members who visit this forum are genuine Kung Fu fans? Perhaps you mainly watch modern films, but pop in here to have a vent? I know a way to find out... if all you've seen is a handful of Kung Fu films then there's certainly no valid reason to spend your time here. However, if you've made it your business to seek out at least the classics of the genre then you deserve to be here. This doesn't include members who sign up and make but a single post for a film ID then disappear.

Have you watched ALL 10 of these classic movies? Yes or no?

YES , I have seen all

LOVE INVICIBLE ARMOUR  !!! I would not consider Enter The Dragon a Classic ,

Yes, A BIG COMERSIAL CLASSIC but not on a top 10 list. You like Shaolin Vs. Lama yourself falkor so how can you put Enter The Dragon on the same list  ???

That's funny, Shaolin Vs Lama is number 10 on your list Falkor. You'd think it would be number 1 or 2 considering you're pleading for money for it.

I think you forgot your other favorite Shaolin Temple Against Lama. You used to bash anyone who dissed that one.

It's odd, but I hardly ever see you talk about Shaw Brothers films. Did you get traumatized by a Shaw film, so you avoid talking about them? Why isn't there a single Shaw film on that list?

But then again, it's YOUR Top 10 list, not mine or anyone elses.

And yes, I've seen all of the movies on the list. Born Invincible wouldn't even make my top 50.

For someone to be an kung fu film elitist, they should have good taste in movies, or at least know what they're talking about first. :)

I've seen all 10. Have I SAT through all of them, the answer is 'no'. I just browsed through Real Bruce Lee.

I mistook Super Ninjas for the Alexander Lo Rei flick. Okay, you got one Shaws in there, I'll give you that. But you missed Martial Club, or Five Venoms, or maybe one of the Shaolin cycle films with Fu Sheng.

But strictly speaking Ren zhe wu di 1982 ( Super ninja ) were produced by Cheh Chang's Taiwanese company were it not ? Produced for Shaw but not by them ?

I only started this topic to find out about you. You really surprise me, as I feel you are the single worst member of this forum. I don't know why you are the way you are, but it's beyond my understanding. You appear to be a fan of Kung Fu films, yet are always so against them. I would have a better chance of finding out the theory of everything than trying to understand you. There's no need for this topic to continue... my theory has been proven wrong. Even real fans can end up putting down the genre. You've bothered watching all those films, but don't even like Born Invincible!? That's really pissed me off... I'm done with this forum. Good-bye!

I think I hurt the guy's feelings because I don't care for Born Invincible. It's not like we were dating or anything! :D

Have no fear, he'll be back. There's still that little thing about raising funds for the widescreen Shaolin vs Lama.

Seen 'em all except for Real Bruce Lee, which I actually have a copy of but never bothered with. Not a huge Bruceploitation fan, honestly.

And does anybody actually think Falkor is going away? I'd hate to be the one to burst your bubble. :aJFBQ00142070108C:

There's a DVD from Digiview of THE REAL BRUCE LEE which is wide, something I've not seen in too many "dollar" DVDs...

I am a fan of "Brucesploitation" - Nothing against Bruce Lee, but in some ways I enjoy those films more than the actual BL titles...

Thank you for the heads up. I'll check that version out. I don't mind the bruceploitation stuff, some are better than others. But if there's a widescreen version of a movie, even if it's a little crappy, I'll still try to get it. Even though I hated Born Invincible, I still looked for the Tai Seng VHS, which was mandarin audio and english subbed.

My apologies for going OT, but I wonder if companies such as Digiview and East West DVD are still distributing these titles. I haven't seen any new releases from any of them in quite a while. I suspect the market became glutted with all kinds of the same PD crap...

I never did see Digiview in my local budget big box store, so I don't know if they are still around or not. Whenever I see a bunch of films on a budget label I've never seen before, and they're movies I don't have, I'll buy up everything (one of each, that is). I've stuck to that rule of thumb, because there are so many labels that I've never seen show up at the same store again.

So while I didn't answer your question, my guess is that even if those same labels don't put out new stuff, there's probably a new label that will come up and do the same.
