Member loempiavreter Posted April 6, 2010 Member Share Posted April 6, 2010 Im a big fan of Kung Fu & Wuxia who features villains with outlandish costumes who have weird weapons or bizarre martial arts styles. I prefer the villains unique in dress, instead of a whole army of same dressed (but with an evenly outlandish dress sense). As the voiceover of US trailer of THE MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE words it, "...encounters the most amazing creatures in this or any world" So can anyone help me find movies to fill my collection. Member odioustrident Posted April 6, 2010 Member Share Posted April 6, 2010 I think this part of why I got into the genre. These don't all feature insane clothing, but the styles/weapons are definitely here. 8 Masters 72 Desperate Rebels (more group formations in this one) Avenging Eagle Bastard Swordsman 1 & 2 Challenge of the Lady Ninja Enter the Game of Death Five Element Ninjas (more group stuff again but you should see this if you have not already) Flag of Iron General Stone The Karate 1-3 (AKA Champion) Last Hurrah for Chivalry Legend of All Men Are Brothers (Secret of the Water Technique, mostly in the finale) Life Gamble Mafia vs. Ninja Magnificent Three Mantis Fists and Tiger Claws of Shaolin Mask of Death Zodiac Fighters There is a hell of a lot more than this.... Especially if you consider some early 70's swordplays and late 70's/early 80's Korean.

Member kungfusamurai Posted April 10, 2010 Member Share Posted April 10, 2010 There are so many, but this thread made me think of 36 Deadly Styles. You could tell who the bad guys were from their really bad wigs. Didn't Bolo have a mop on his head? That Joseph Kuo really went on the cheap for costumes in that flick. Dk9icUGg9H4 This one was really good, I think it's the most memorable scene from Buddhist Fist, outside of the amazing finale h1lcmXqL6ww KFS

You could tell who the bad guys were from their really bad wigs. Didn't Bolo have a mop on his head? Bolo's wig/weave in that film had to be one of the funniest things ever! haha the dubbing on kickboxer with yuen biao on... voice over is classic sounds like shaft talking! Member Morgoth Bauglir Posted April 11, 2010 Member Share Posted April 11, 2010 36 Deadly Styles may be the ultimate wig movie. I think director Joseph Kuo possibly realized this when shooting. At one point, after the big group fight, Bolo runs after the heroes of the movie and has to hold the top of his head to keep the wig from falling off. Kuo may not have noticed it, or maybe they were short on time, but I like to think he left it in there on purpose. And during the final fight, Hwang is beating up Fan Mei Sheng's character, and the daughter comes in to fight Hwang. Hwang pauses and says "I like the look of your kung fu, not bad". Then he swings his head to show off his beautiful silver hair. It's like he thought he was doing a commercial for bad wigs or something.
Member loempiavreter Posted April 11, 2010 Author Member Share Posted April 11, 2010 - Holy Flame of the Martial World - Miracle Fighters - Shaolin Drunkard - Taoism Drunkard I've seen these this week. Member Fang Shih-yu Posted April 11, 2010 Member Share Posted April 11, 2010 The chopsticks in "Buddhist Fist" remind me how Kuo Chui impaled one of his would-be assassins with said items in "The Flag of Iron"! In that whole sequence where he was "in hiding", he defended himself with anything BUT an actual weapon!
Member SunChien Posted April 12, 2010 Member Share Posted April 12, 2010 Chang Yi in Phantom Kung Fu, hard for me to take him seriously, coupled with the English dub he got. That dude from Martial Monks of Shaolin (you know the one who eats the chicken sloppily and has it all over his mouth and it's stuck to his mustache, gross).
